During the 2nd day of the NHL Draft, Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks completed a trade with Bill Zito, and the Florida Panthers.
While the Blackhawks haven't completed an NHL trade during the entire 2025 draft, they did trade up last night to acquire center Mason West (29th overall).
Kyle Davidson seems to be up to something again, as he's made a draft-day trade with the Florida Panthers.
The Blackhawks look to be getting out of the 2025 7th round entirely this season, as they've traded the 197th pick in this year's draft to the Florida Panthers.
In return, the Panthers have swapped with them for their own 2026 7th-round pick.
That is the breakdown of 7th-rounders making it in any shape or form in the NHL. Joe Pavelski and Doug Gilmour are two late-round draft picks who performed above and beyond expectations.
Gilmour would win one Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames, while Pavelski retired cupless.
It could more or less be a nothingburger in the greater scheme of things.
