Chicago Blackhawks acquire Montreal Canadiens goal-scoring forward in a blockbuster trade pitch

GM Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks could acquire Patrik Laine in an intriguing trade with the Montreal Canadiens, two teams that have been trade partners before.
With the Chicago Blackhawks pushing forward in the rebuild, they could use a sniper on the ice. For that, they'll only have to look to Montreal in order to acquire Patrik Laine.
Laine has been a fixture in the Montreal Canadiens lineup since he was traded from the Blue Jackets to the Original Six squad. Last season, he played a total of 55 games, scored 20 goals, and had 33 points.
The Blackhawks Trade A Prospect For Patrik Laine
A trade proposal from Heavy.com sees the Blackhawks acquire Patrik Laine in a one-for-one trade for Gavin Hayes, a prospect.
The Blackhawks would acquire sniper Laine, who could be utilized in multiple scenarios, including the power play for Gavin Hayes.
Laine would easily fit his $34.8 million total salary underneath the team's cap space while adding a linemate for Connor Bedard to make plays with and feed off of.
While the Blackhawks would have to move off of Gavin Hayes, who played in the AHL last season and isn't a top prospect in the organization. He played 50 games and scored 15 points (5-10). He could find more playing time in Montreal if he were a piece in the deal.
The Blackhawks' prospect pool is deep and could utilize a swap like this in order to move the team forward in the standings.
