Chicago Blackhawks 3x Stanley Cup Champion Brent Seabrook inks deal with the Calgary Flames
Former Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook, a three-time Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist, is transitioning to a coaching role with the Calgary Flames.
The Flames recently announced Seabrook's addition to their Player Development staff, where he will mentor players for both the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.
Flames General Manager Craig Conroy is thrilled about the hiring, stating:
«We are pleased to welcome Brent Seabrook to our development team. Our young players will benefit from his years of experience in the NHL and his championship pedigree.»
Seabrook's career spanned 1,114 NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks, including three Stanley Cup wins in 2010, 2013, and 2015, an Olympic gold medal in 2010, and World Junior medals in 2004 (silver) and 2005 (gold).
In 2023, he was inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame.
Seabrook retired from the NHL in 2021 after 15 seasons and served as an interim assistant coach for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL before moving into a player development role.
In 2024, he joined Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence Management Group for the under-20 team.
Seabrook is excited about his new role:
«I am really looking forward to working with the talented young players in the Flames organization. The future is bright, and I'm thankful to be part of it.»
Seabrook joins a development team led by Ray Edwards, Martin Gelinas, Danielle Fujita, Rebecca Johnston, Darren Rommerdahl, Michael Stone, and Zach McClean.
