The best free agents still available on the market were revealed in a new report, and it really underscores how forgettable this year's NHL free agency period has been.

July 1st came and went without the usual fireworks. Thanks to a thin free agent class and a pile of players deciding to stick with their old teams at the eleventh hour, there just hasn't been much to get excited about. Now, only four days later, that list of names has already been picked nearly clean.
Plenty of teams around the league still have holes to fill, but the players left on the board aren't exactly the ones they had circled first. For most GMs, it's going to come down to compromise or desperation, neither being an ideal place to be.
Still, there are a handful of guys who could be interesting acquisitions. At the top of the list is Jack Roslovic. The 28-year-old center has a great season last year, with 22 goals and 17 assissts for 39 points in 81 games with Carolina. He's coming off a $2.8 million cap hit and is projected by AFP Analytics to land a three-year deal north of $4 million annually. Given what's left, he's easily the best forward out there.
On the blue line, it's hard not to see Matt Grzelcyk as the top option. The 31-year-old logged just one goal last year with Pittsburgh but dished out 39 assists for 40 points. He's likely looking at a three-year deal at around $4.7 million AAV.
Then there's Victor Olofsson. The 29-year-old former seventh-rounder is third on this list mostly because the market is so thin. In limited action this season (56 games), he still managed to score 15 goals and 14 assists. He could earn around $3.4 million a season on his next deal.
Notably absent are goalies. With names like Reimer, Samsonov, and Georgiev topping that list, no surprise there. As for bigger names like Pacioretty or Skinner? Their best days are already in the rearview mirror.
This market might be quiet, but there's still some valuable players left, if teams are willing to pay.
