In Anders Sorensen's latest statement to Ben Pope of the CST, was there a rift growing between veterans like Pat Maroon, Alec Martinez, and the rookies in the Chicago Blackhawks locker room?
The
Chicago Blackhawks' season has concluded, unsuccessfully, with a record of 25-46-11, and 8th in the Central Division.
They're in the running for a top lottery pick in the 2025 NHL Draft for sure, but in the playoffs? We can't even fathom it at this point.
That might be a point of contention for some of the stars in the
Blackhawks locker room, as he discussed the atmosphere behind the scenes this season with Ben Pope of the CST.
Pope believes Sorensen's statement is giving away the game, as many veterans who lost their jobs to younger prospects grew up set as time wore on.
Many of those veterans who saw reduced playing time included TJ Brodie, Alec Martinez, and Pat Maroon.
As a veteran player, it would be rough, considering you've solidified yourself in the NHL as a hard-working forward or defenseman, it's tough to lose your role in the lineup.
Not to be rude, but many of these veterans were place holders in a situation that was in flux, a rebuild is part chaos and organization. It sounds like all of the players who were brought up this year earned their spot and the aggression of their veteran teammates.
Regardless, come July, some of these players are done for good, and some will be onto the next spot in their career.
At least Anders Sorensen isn't Peter Laviolette, who hates to play prospects and rookies.
