A major firing and hiring by the Nashville Predators takes place involving the Chicago Blackhawks

Former Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson's NHL return was discussed one month ago by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, and on Tuesday it became official.
The Nashville Predators have decided to let go assistant coach Todd Richards, and introduce Luke Richardson as their next assistant coach.
Luke Richardson was fired from the Blackhawks this past December after spending parts of three seasons with them, and previously coached in the AHL, it was ultimately a decision that had to be made for a fresh start.
The 56-year old coach is set to oversee the Predators' defensive duties.
Todd Richards, who was let go moments ago in place of Luke, had been with the organization since the 2020-21 season and took over head coaching duties when Andrew Brunette was absent.
«Luke brings a wealth of NHL experience as both a player and coach to our staff, and we are excited to welcome him and his family to the organization,» general manager Barry Trotz said. «With that experience, we believe he will be a valuable new voice and set of eyes - not just for our defensemen, but for our coaching staff. His strong character, leadership, perspective as a former NHL head coach and ability to connect with both young and veteran players will elevate our team on and off the ice.»
After a very disappointing 2024-25 season in Nashville, they are hoping a fresh face behind the bench and a top five pick in the upcoming NHL draft can lift them further in the coming years. Much like the Blackhawks, who officially introduced 51-year old Jeff Blashill as their new head coach.
