Chicago Blackhawks defenseman addresses the urgent need for specific traits in a head coach, and it will ultimately lead to his firing after this seasons complete.
Many believe the Blackhawks' biggest priority this offseason is acquiring star studded talent to surround Bedard, such as
Mitch Marner or other prominent names to lead the way.
But who is going to lead them to success behind the bench? Certainly not their former head coach of the AHL Anders Sorensen, who replaced Luke Richardson when he was relieved of his duties early on this season.
For the first time in years since the firing of Joel Quenneville in 2018, the Blackhawks are looking for a legitimate head coach to lead their young NHL roster.
General manager Kyle Davidson will undergo the interview process, as he
recently revealed Anders Sorensen's fate as the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.
«It's a huge decision. We're thinking about how that profile looks and what the team will look like and what they'll need in a coach.»
While Davidson does his due diligence into his head coaching search, an established member of Chicago's young core certainly gave him a hand in doing so with his latest comments.
23-year old Alex Vlasic sent a clear message to Kyle Davidson on what the team needs in a head coach
«Me personally, I think most players would agree that you want a coach who is going to hold the team accountable for their play on the ice,» Vlasic said. «If you look across the league at the good teams, the good coaches, it kind of seems like that's a trait that they all share.»
Having a head coach who holds all accountable no matter the circumstance is crucial for the Blackhawks if they hope to get back onto a winning path.
Vlasic may have realized he spoke on the firing of current head coach Sorensen, and stated a few things he enjoys about him as their leader.
«I like learning in a way where there's a little bit of good and a little bit of bad. If we are doing some video stuff, which we are really good at, the coaches will show a clip of you doing something not well or something that they want you to do. Then, there might be another time in the game where you do it well and they'll reinforce the idea so you're constantly thinking about it and you're not just getting hammered with negativity.»
David Carle as Blackhawks next head coach?
According to Elliotte Friedman's
recent report, the Blackhawks are the head-runners to acquire David Carle, who has quite the impressive resume with four championships under his belt in the past five years, accumulating in his time behind the bench for Denver in the NCAA and Team USA at the World Junior Championships.
After five straight losses and six games left, Blackhawks fans can only be more excited now for the 2025-26 season to kick off with a fresh slate and now a new head coach.
