On this day, 58 years ago, the Chicago Blackhawks combined with the New York Rangers for a trade that sent Camille "The Eel" Henry to Chicago in return for Paul Shmyr.

This deal was a one-for-one swap between the Chicago Blackhawks, as the Blackhawks acquired defenseman Paul Shmyr from the Rangers.
Shmyr, a defenseman of Ukrainian heritage, was one of the WHA's top stars and would make his way across the league from the California Golden Seals to the Cleveland Crusaders and would win the league's top defenseman award in 1976.
However, Shmyr would be a vital member of the Blackhawks team during their 1971 trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.
He'd play 57 games for the Blackhawks and score 13 points (1-12) as a defenseman on the same team as the Golden Jet Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and Eric Nesterenko.
Shmyr would leave the NHL for the rebel WHA and wouldn't find a home in the NHL until the WHA's absorption into the league in 1979 as a Minnesota North Star.

Camille "The Eel" Henry & The Aftermath of The Trade

Camille "The Eel" Henry had some notable appearances in the NHL, as he scored on Jacques Plante when he first donned a mask in the NHL on November 1st, 1959.
However, his career with the Blackhawks was short-lived, playing 22 games and scoring 8 points wearing the Blackhawks crest.
Henry won a Lady Byng award in 1957-58, the same year he was also nominated to the NHL's Second All-Star team.
Henry would be a big part of the Blackhawks' 1964-65 run to the Stanley Cup finals with the team.
The next season, he'd find himself in the CPHL playing for the St. Louis Braves.
