Analyst Michael Augello has linked the Buffalo Sabres to Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who still has 3 years left on the deal he signed last summer.

The Chicago Blackhawks' time in the NHL's basement has yielded 3 top-3 NHL picks in the NHL Entry Draft, including 2023 1st overall pick Connor Bedard and 2025 3rd overall pick Anton Frondell.
Last summer, the Blackhawks signed forward Tyler Bertuzzi to a 4 year deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $5.5 million to give another NHL player with experience to play with Bedard .
Are the Blackhawks already considering trading him?
Per analyst Michael Auguello of The Hockey News, the Buffalo Sabres could be interested in him, and suggests a trio of Sabres prospects in Zach Benson, Devon Levi, Noah Ostlund, or Konsta Helenius that the Blackhawks could request in return in a hypothetical Bertuzzi trade.
Adams would definitely be attracted by a veteran with years remaining on his deal, especially with the cap going up significantly and Bertuzzi locked in at a $5.5 million AAV. The Hawks are loaded with draft capital, so it is likely that they would prefer a player with some NHL experience or a prospect close to being ready to make the jump. That would mean names like Zach Benson, Devon Levi, Noah Ostlund, or Konsta Helenius.

In his 1st year with the Blackhawks, Bertuzzi had 46 points (23G, 23A).

Tyler Bertuzzi still has 3 years left on his contract

Bertuzzi earned the long-term security that he was looking for after having played for the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs all since 2023.
While he has been injury prone, he brings an element of snarl and grittiness that many NHL clubs covet, especially around playoff time.
Unfortunately for Bertuzzi, the Blackhawks aren't expected to realistically compete for the playoffs any time soon, and if he were to be moved to Buffalo, he would join the NHL's longest current postseason drought at 14 years.
