Blackhawks Make a Trade With the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Chicago Blackhawks organization may not have made many big moves during the trade deadline, but they show no signs of stopping as they have traded Brandon Braddock to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The
Blackhawks and Maple Leafs made what you could call a depth move today, as the Maple Leafs added size to their AHL lineup.
That trade sent the IceHog's physical, power-forward Brandon Braddock to the AHL to play for the Toronto Marlies in the AHL.
Braddock is known primarily for his size, and his ability to stand up for his teammates, giving his stat-line of 7 points in 38 games, and a whopping 86 PIMS.
NHL Insider Kyle Cushman:
The Marlies have added more depth after losing pieces at the NHL trade deadline.
Toronto adds Brandon Baddock from Rockford for future considerations. 6-foot-3 physical winger who has 7 points and 86 PIMs in 38 games.
Braddock spent the 2023-2024 season with the IceHogs and would play 63 games in Rockford, and would accumulate only 3 points (3 A) and 111 PIMs.
If you can get an idea of what kind of player he is, it totally echoes the word "enforcer" more or less.
Unlike the
NHL, the AHL can utilize these sorts of players as depth additions across the lineup.
Now, Braddock will head to Toronto to protect prospects, and other minor-leaguers in the Maple Leafs system with the Marlies.
IceHogs GM Mark Bernard would thank Braddock for the time he gave in Rockford and wished him well on his journey in the blue and white next.
I want to thank Brandon and his family for all of their contributions on and off the ice during the past two seasons. Brandon and his wife Hannah have made an incredible impact in the Rockford community right from the start of their time here.
Brandon Braddock has only ever seen the ice for 1 NHL game with the Montreal Canadiens in 2021-2022 and has since spent the majority of his career in the AHL with the Binghamton Devils, Iowa Wild, Laval Rocket, and Rockford IceHogs.
Braddock was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils 161st overall in 2014 and would start his professional career with the Albany Devils in the AHL, and their ECHL affiliate the Adirondack Thunder.
He signed with the Rockford IceHogs in 2023, where he'd play as a veteran forward until he was traded to the Marlies today.
