The NHL's broadcasting future has been finalized following a large $11B deal with Rogers Communications inc that changes everything.

According to recent reports, Rogers and the NHL have collabed for a 12-year deal totalling a value of $11B in hopes to keep the rights of National Televised games on Sportsnet.
However, a recent turn of events reveals Rogers may turn their back on their new deal and sell off games to another broadcasting company.

Rogers and NHL's new deal takes major turn

According to YYZ Sports Media, the substantial amount of money involved in the recently signed deal makes zero sense for Rogers, unless they sell a major portion of NHL games to other companies.
The $11B deal is more than twice the amount of the recently expired deal between Rogers and the NHL, with taking inflation into considering - it still doesn't make sense.
It appears as though Rogers will be reselling a large portion of those games to make their investment back, which will change everything for West Coast teams in the league.
This does not change things for West Coast teams, also any games involving a Canadian team, may be limited to a wide population (blacked out).
This new deal pushes TSN's fate down into the ground even more, especially with the NHL's new partnership with Amazon, who may be in the runnings to purchase a large lump sum of those portions from Rogers, meaning games will soon only be able to be accessed through a smart TV with Amazon Prime.
It seems as though the near-ending of hockey games on satellite television are nearing its end, would you prefer to watch games through an app or the old school way on cable? Let us know in the poll below.
