The latest Instagram post from Chicago Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard has fans spreading rumors that Bedard wants out of the Windy City.
Connor Bedard has set himself on a path to replicate his 2023-2024 points production if he can manage to score three more points in the next eight games.
For the elite
Blackhawks center, this shouldn't be a problem! However, on issue that has arisen is after his latest post on Instagram, fans are fearful of what could happen in the future.
Hot Air in The Windy City?
While his latest top-corner goal against the Flyers on the 23rd is gaining steam for how clean of a shot it was on
Ivan Fedotov, the Instagram post is troubling.
However,
Bedard maintains his own Instagram account, and while his post is celebrating his OT goal in Utah on the 7th, fans are concerned because of the lack of "emotion" that was added to the post.
He only added one emoji to the post itself.
After the post, fans are uproarious over the image, as they believe he's tired of playing in Chicago, causing fans to issue statements that suggest he might seek a trade, or be traded elsewhere.
One wrote, "It's okay, we know you don't like it there," and another made a direct statement: "That's not your home."
While others tried to remain positive about the situation:
One Instagram user posted, "Anyway, please stay for Chi." Another just commented, "Please stay."
It's difficult to gauge players' emotions, especially when Bedard guards his so close to his chest.
He expresses it during hockey games and is one of the most fierce competitors on the Blackhawks, but when he's engaging with the media, he's very reserved.
This seems like another case where he's just being himself, but fans may be making a mountain out of a molehill.
Regardless, with NHL Insiders Craig Button and Elliotte Friedman urging him to wait to see his next contract with the team, it fuels skepticism like this here.
Given that Bedard will be an RFA at his contract's expiry as a 1st overall pick he could utilize his leverage to make the Blackhawks a better team by demanding GM Kyle Davidson add competitive pieces.
Or he could ask for a trade, but we'll have to see how it plays out in 2026.
