A longtime member of the hockey world has unexpectedly died on Tuesday at the age of 74
The hockey world continues to mourn, and it has been a sad month.
Rich Emert, a longtime sports journalist in the Pittsburgh area has unexpectedly passed away at the age of 74.
Emert was a sports addict after graduating with a degree in journalism from Point Park College.
He contributed to several well-established news outlets in his time, including Beaver County Times, Pittsburgh Press, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Valley News Dispatch, and Tribune-Review, and was also a school teacher for several years.
He was deemed as 'one of the best in the business'.
"Rich was such a blast to work with.
Learned so much from him and spent more than a few Sunday nights together at Jack's after putting Monday's paper to bed."
Rich leaves behind his wife of 51 years Linda, daughter Jennifer (Matthew) Marshall, son Matthew, Sister Karen (Jon) Dougherty, and Sister Jo-Ann (Jeff) Lokey, 3 nephews, 3 nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones, friends, family and those affected by this saddened news.
