Drew Doughty Sends Threats to USA's Matthew Tkachuk Ahead of Gold Medal Game

Drew Doughty is a multiple Stanley Cup-winning defenseman who has played his entire career with the Los Angeles Kings.

He's also been fortunate enough to play for his country in the international sphere, and won Gold with Team Canada in Vancouver (2010) and Sochi (2014).

Doughty's been successful wherever he's played and isn't afraid of being utilized in all situations.

Including being a fighter, if the right situation would occur.

His latest statement sounds like a challenge to Matthew Tkachuk, one that has total conviction in his belief that he will help Canada win on Thursday.

If Doughty plans on fighting to give Canada some energy in the match, he could be counting on the game to be another barnburner.

The last time the two squads met, there were three fights within the first minute of the game.

Doughty wasn't one of those players who squared off with a Tkachuk, as we saw Brandon Hagel and Matthew drop the gloves.

For Doughty though, he isn't the same elite defenseman he used to be in the 2010s, but he can still fight.

Last season the defender found himself accumulating 44 PIMs, and scored an more than impressive 50 points in 82 games for the Kings.

Doughty finds himself paired with big man Travis Sanheim on Canada's bottom pair and will be counted on to shut down Team USA, and Auston Matthews.

If there does happen to be a fight between Tkachuk and Doughty, we'll have the popcorn ready.
