Just 22 days after being traded to the Florida Panthers from the Boston Bruins, Brad Marchand made his debut with his new team after being sidelined with an injury, and the former captain pulled off the unexpected.

This NHL trade deadline saw several different players heading to new organizations, some teams decided to load up their lineups through overpayments to acquire fresh faces, the Florida Panthers certainly did the opposite while acquiring acquiring Brad Marchand.
General manager Bill Zito managed to fleece the Boston Bruins for their longtime fan-favorited forward, only parting ways with a conditional second round pick to acquire the former Stanley Cup Champion Marchand.
Once acquired by the Panthers, concerns did raise regarding the injury he suffered on March 1st, and if he would even be able to lace them up this season.
While the injury was quite gruesome, Marchand made a speedy recovery to make his debut with his new organization, and it's clear who won the trade after just one game.

Marchand earns OT assist in Panthers debut

Paul Maurice, the Florida Panthers head coach, decided to put together two forwards who formerly disliked each other in overtime on Friday against the Utah Hockey Club.
Marchand and Sam Bennett would then ultimately end up winning the game, with a nice pass by #63.
Oddly enough, Marchand holds the renowned nickname of 'the rat' by most NHL fans, and oddly enough a symbol of the Panthers organization has been a rat since the 1996 season, when a Panthers player would crush one with his stick in the dressing room prior to a game.
They would later go onto the Stanley Cup Finals, and since the organization has thrown rats on the ice following wins.
Marchand grabbed himself a souvenir after setting up the OT winner.
As the days go on, it's becoming more clear that the Florida Panthers got the ultimate trade deadline acquisition in Brad Marchand.
