The Chicago Blackhawks' farm system is going to continue to grow with elite prospects trickling into the lineup.
It was reported today that
Sam Rinzel and Oliver Moore's Gophers team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament. This means the Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson will have to be busy, working the phones so he can bring over 1st-round picks Sam Rinzel and Oliver Moore into the fold.
Sam Rinzel & Oliver Moore
Rinzel and
Moore's Gophers team was eliminated by UMass and is considered part of the top 10 or 15 prospects in the Hawks' pipeline.
Rinzel was selected 25th overall by GM Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks during the 2022 NHL Draft, while Moore was taken 19th overall in 2023, the Bedard year.
Despite being drafted only a year apart it is apparent the two will be able to sign their entry-level contracts soon.
Rinzel could be a top defenseman on Chicago's blue line in the future. He's played 79 games in Minnesota with the Gophers, and this season would find the net often, scoring 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists).
While his freshman season only saw him score 28 points and only 2 goals, he found his offensive upside. Rinzel would end his college career in Minnesota with a +23.
While Moore's production has been consistent in Minnesota, scoring 33 points a season, this year he found the back of the net 12 times compared to 2023.
If Moore can make the Blackhawks out of training camp next year, he could become part of the depth down the middle needed as the center position is lacking right now.
In the future, along with
Frank Nazar, he'll be a key role player in the Blackhawks' lineup as a playmaking forward with some offensive upside.
