Blackhawks head coach makes questionable roster move ahead of matchup vs Golden Knights
The main story and complaint this season for the Chicago Blackhawks have been the line changes. Between Luke Richardson and Anders Sorensen, there have been way too many line changes. And it feels like over half has been for Connor Bedard's line, which is unacceptable.
This continues today, when in practice,
Frank Nazar was moved off of Bedard's wing once again for some reason. Nazar was moved to the second line center position.
Sorensen took Nazar off of Bedard's wing for one game earlier in the week and it didn't work. For the last game against the New Jersey Devils, the line was put back together, and that same line scored a goal in the late stages.
With all that, Anders still breaks up the line.
Sorensen said in the media scrum after practice that he wants to get Bedard back down the middle, even though he's been doing great on the wing.
He also said that
Ilya Mikheyev brings a lot of pace, positive zone entries, and finds guys late, also saying that could help the line out.
Here's some news for Anders. Nazar is one of the fastest players on the team alongside
Lukas Reichel, and obviously, Mikheyev.
Nazar brings positive zone entries and can find people, too. Frank has one of the biggest motors on this team and was helping out Bedard a lot because he's young and can match his pace.
Sure, Mikheyev may be able to match Bedard's pace, as well, but that chemistry Nazar and Bedard have is gone.
Bedard has struggled down the middle the entire season. He's moved to the wing and starts performing, yet Sorensen decides to not only break apart the line but moves Bedard back into the center position.
It doesn't make any sense and these constant line changes aren't needed. It's annoying. It's like you're walking into a wall over and over again.
The Blackhawks cannot bring Sorensen back next year and they have to hit on this next hire, because if they don't, it's going to start messing up people's development and turn away big free agent targets.
