This signing reminds me a lot of Cole Guttman. No one really knew who Guttman was, but he turned out to be a diamond in the rough signing out of the University of Denver.
The Blackhawks have signed Ryder Rolston to a 3-year entry level contract, $895,000 AAV.
Rolston is a 21 year old out of the University of Notre Dame. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. Just like Guttman, Colorado let his rights expire and Kyle Davidson decided to take a chance.
This season with Notre Dame, Rolston tallied 7 goals and 13 assists, adding up to 20 points in 27 games. Ryder's shot and speed really stood out among most on the team.
Could this be another diamond in the rough signing for the Hawks?
