The Ottawa Senators had a picture-perfect offseason, locking in some key pieces to long-term contracts.
Dorion also brought in
Claude Giroux and
Alex DeBrincat, which seemingly complemented the teams young core, with a nice mix of gritty veteran and young goalscorer.
Early on, the teams is not producing the way that anybody would have expected. Sporting a record of 4-8-1 after their afternoon 4-1 win against the Flyers today. The win snapped a seven-game losing skid.
And the fans have had no issue voicing their displeasure to the on-ice product. Chants throughout the Canadian Tire Centre calling for the firing of DJ Smith started to take shape during a Nov. 7 game.
A seven-game losing streak can really set a team back, but is it too early to be calling for the coaches job and to cite the team as destined for an early offseason?
