As the Blackhawks approached their 10th game of the season, head coach Luke Richardson has been experimenting with his lineup to discover a winning combination that can boost their goal-scoring. One player who had garnered high praise and great expectations of leaping to the NHL was Blackhawks center Lukas Reichel.

The son of former European star Martin Reichel and the nephew of former NHL player Robert Reichel, Lukas was selected by the Blackhawks in the 2020 Entry Draft, 17th overall in the first round.

The Blackhawks had hoped that he would be a suitable fit at center, as they were in dire need of skilled centers apart from Connor Bedard. Regrettably, this experiment has not yielded positive results, and he has now been moved back to the wing.

During a media scrum, Reichel expressed his frustration and disappointment about his lack of production, falling short of the expectations set for him.

In the 2022-2023 season, Reichel played 23 games, scoring seven goals with eight assists, accumulating 15 points and six penalty minutes. There is still ample time for the 21-year-old to discover his form and a line that will ignite his scoring abilities, meeting the point expectations set by general manager Kyle Davidson
