"That's not good enough. I've got to watch my words here, but we just can't do that. You can't put an effort like that out and expect to maybe steal a game from somebody. Whether they packed it in or not, I think guys are trying, some guys. They're just limited to what they can do out there. It really shows against a team like this, your faults, what you need to complete against that level of a team."
After this morning's skate, King spoke to the media about the team's approach to tonight's game against Winnipeg:
As a means of trying to induce a better result, King confirmed that Brett Connolly and Erik Gustafsson would draw in tonight while Philipp Kurashev and Jakub Galvas watched from the press box. The coach said that Marc-Andre Fleury will be the starting netminder.
Meanwhile, the Hawks continue to be without their captain, Jonathan Toews, who remains in concussion protocol. King said Toews has been working out in Chicago but was unsure of whether or not he'd been on the ice in recent days.
This season has certainly been one that the Blackhawks and fans alike can't wait to put behind them.
