Former Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson reportedly landing surprising NHL head coaching job
The Vancouver Canucks are like the Chicago Blackhawks: they both need a head coach. The Canucks spot is vacant because Rick Tocchet is not returning to the club, and Anders Sorensen isn't going to cut it for the Blackhawks next year.
New news came out for the Canucks on their head coaching job, and it comes with the possibility of an old friend Hawks fans know very well taking the position.
On the SN 650 Radio during an episode of Canucks Talk, Rick Dhaliwal said that Vancouber may be looking to hire Luke Richardson, former Blackhawks head coach.
There's a lot of names, they're just not, the ones we're hearing are not big names right now like in terms of...you're hearing a lot of American Hockey League guys like Todd Nelson. I think Pascal Vincent once he's done in Laval could get a look in Vancouver. Luke Richardson is a name that I've heard.
Luke played 21 seasons in the NHL and more than 1,000 games as a defenseman, playing for six different teams throughout his career.
He was the assistant coach on the New York Islanders and the Montreal Canadiens before taking the bench boss job in Chicago and lasting two and a half seasons until he was fired last December.
Richardson easily has to be one of the worst coaches the Blackhawks have ever had.
He nearly stunted
Connor Bedard's development, which is the only cardinal sin in Blackhawks land right now, and somehow, he nearly found a way. That's not even adding the fact in- he had no clue what he was doing.
If the Canucks hire Richardson, they're crazy, and they may be one of the worst teams in the league next year.
