Major turn of events with the Florida Panthers and Seth Jones changes things
The Chicago Blackhawks made one of the biggest trades a week before the trade deadline by trading Seth Jones to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2026 first round pick and Spencer Knight.
The deal has been working out well for Chicago as Knight has shown potential to be their future starting goalie at only 23 years old, not even including the future selection.
At the start for Jones in Florida, it was a little rocky. He was struggling a lot, but now, throughout the past six games, he's starting to find himself again. Seth has a 61.13 corsi percentage, a 60.03 expected goals percentage and a 60.0 actual goals percentage.
Seth Jones has been playing much better in Florida. In his last six games, he as had a 61.13 Corsi percentage, 60.03 expected goals percentage and 60.0 actual goals percentage (3-2) in 5v5.
Jones, before this, had a 41.61 expected goals percentage and the Panthers were even outscored 6-1 when he was out on the ice in 5v5 play.
The Florida Panthers have been outscored 6-1 with Seth Jones on the ice in 5v5 in his first seven games. He has a 41.61 expected goals percentage.
Jones just needed some time to settle in with Florida. He isn't playing with veterans in their mid-thirties anymore on one or two-year contracts. Now, he's with a solid mix of veteran and young players.
Plus, Florida's third in the Atlantic Division, two points behind first place (Toronto Maple Leafs, 94 points). That's a big jump in pace and the standings from being on the worst team in the league.
This trade has worked out for both sides so far.
