Various reports have surfaced on whether or not Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov has rejected a massive contract offer, and if he's been asked to submit a trade list of clubs he'd be willing to be moved to.
There have been various reports that Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov
rejected a contract offer that would have made him the highest paid player in NHL history.
Sources say #mnwild superstar Kirill Kaprizov's camp turned down an extension offer believed to be 8-years, $128 million in a meeting on Tuesday in Minnesota that would have made him the highest-paid player in #NHL history in both AAV ($16 million) and total dollars.
The deal was reportedly $128 million with an AAV (average annual value) of $16 million. But soon after that news came out, Wild GM Bill Guerin pushed back and said that they never offered him such a deal, and that the news didn't come from them.
Now, reports have emerged that the Wild have reportedly asked Kaprizov to submit a list of teams that he'd be willing to accept a trade to, followed by a report that indicates such a request was premature.
It would be nothing short of a massive blow to the Wild if they were to lose Kaprizov, arguably the best player in their history.
Will the Blackhawks show interest in Kaprizov?
Acquiring Kaprizov through a trade or free agency would be nothing short of a complete home run for general manager Kyle Davidson.
Not only would he get the most talented player in Blackhawks history since
Patrick Kane, but would also give a perfect partner to 2023 1st overall pick
Connor Bedard in helping to bring the club back into contention.
The NHL salary cap is going to be going up, and the Blackhawks will have the space to accommodate a major deal for Kaprizov if they were to shoot for the stars.
