Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane received a positive update, as Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan has issued a statement on his status today.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion has been out of the Red Wings lineup since October 17th.
After colliding with the boards behind the net, Patrick Kane has been nursing an upper-body injury.
However, after missing nine games, including two of which were significant losses (Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres), there's a potential return to the ice in the future for him.
McLellan's update on Kane:
That is a sign that there's a really good chance he could skate with us on Thursday," McLellan said.

"Again, we're not there yet, but we're getting feedback from some really important people, including Patrick, and we're hoping that he can practice with us and we'll see where it goes from there," he continued.

Great News for Patrick Kane and the Detroit Red Wings

Though he did miss the entirety of the Red Wings road trip (tonight they take on the Vegas Golden Knights), he could join the team for practice on Thursday.
This is welcome news for the team, as he had been playing at a point-per-game pace for the Red Wings until his injury suffered on the 17th.
Kane had been on a scoring pace reminiscent of his Hall of Fame career, having tallied two goals while adding three assists for five points in the five games he played before going down.

Kane has been a major part of the Red Wings' lineup since his return to the NHL after his hip-resurfacing surgery in 2023.
Last season with the Original Six team, he scored 59 points (21-38) and has played 1,307 games in the NHL, split between the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Detroit Red Wings.
