The Chicago Blackhawks have been revealed to be parting ways with a 12-year $17.6M defenseman
A NHL reporter has revealed new insight regarding what Chicago Blackhawks fans can expect from the organization this offseason, and the team is suggested to part ways with a 32-year old, 12-year veteran defenseman, Connor Murphy.
The Chicago Blackhawks have been in a rebuilding phase for some time now, focusing on youth and draft picks rather than immediate success.
Yet, this Original Six team, with six Stanley Cup titles since 1926, has been unable to win since 2015, plus they've missed the playoffs every year since 2020, and have only qualified once since the 2017 NHL season.
However, in order to reshape the organizations roster, they've taken all means necessary, including trading off their veterans for prospect and draft selections.
This being said, if the franchise has the same intentions as they did moving forward, which it seems as though they do, Blackhawks fans should buckle up as it looks like a veteran may be on his way out of Chicago.

However, trading Murphy would free up salary and align with Chicago' strategy, by shedding veteran contracts in order to build a young and new core.
Although it is uncertain of whether or not the Chicago Blackhawks organization will take this approach, it is not far-fetched, and fans should prepare for a very busy offseason.
