The Blackhawks To Name A New Captain in Nick Foligno's Absence

The Chicago Blackhawks will be missing Captain Nick Foligno for an expected large amount of time.
That time means a vacuum of leadership missing, and with
Jason Dickinson also injured they need to place an "A" on another player.
He's turned into a top-four defenseman for the organization and has proven himself a key piece in the lineup.
«It's more so clearing the deck to allow the organic growth for young players in the leadership roles and offer this new era of Blackhawks player the same opportunity that Toews, Kane, [Duncan] Keith, [Brent] Seabrook were all offered when they came into the league.
GM Kyle Davidson cleared the deck in 2023 to allow for natural leaders to emerge in the Blackhawks lineup, and what better choice than one of the players who is in the current youth movement?
Vlasic plays on the 2nd power-play unit for the Hawks, and the 1st penalty-kill unit. His teammates and coaches don't speak negatively of him, and he crosses his T's and dots his I's with his consistent play.
This season in 59 contests he's scored a total of 22 points (2 G, 20 A) on the Blackhawks' second pair.
This year however his placement has been different as his defensive partner right now is
Alec Martinez.
A very good compliment to Vlasic's playstyle which is a two-way style that can contribute to the rush and shutdown of opposing players.
Now, is the team to give Vlasic the alternate-captain's patch.
