Blackhawks' Kyle Davidson Reveals Seth Jones Back Him Into a Corner Regarding a Trade
The GM of the Chicago Blackhawks issued a statement to the media, as he felt a state of urgency once Seth Jones's trade request went public.
The request was fulfilled by Kyle Davidson today, as the Blackhawks sent him to a contending team, the Florida Panthers.
The Blackhawks would receive goalie
Spencer Knight and a conditional 2026 1st-round pick in return for the veteran right-shot defenseman, and a 2026 4th-round pick.
The Hawks would sweeten the deal by saving the Panthers $2.5 million over the next five years, giving them a better return with the move.
However, this was all spurred by Jones going public with his dissatisfaction with the Blackhawks as a team, and then later issuing a statement that he'd like to play for a contender.
GM Kyle Davidson felt a sense of urgency to trade him, instead of letting the situation prolong itself unnecessarily.
It was a great trade for the short amount of time that Davidson had, also considering the little leverage that he had in the greater scheme of things.
«If it happens in the next two weeks, then it happens. If it's this summer or later on, it is what it is. Obviously, I have a full no-movement and I do control it. At the same time, we only control so much.»
In the long run, everyone is happy now, as he has escaped the confines of the United Center.
Now, fresh blood can replenish the ranks of the Blackhawks as we hope they continue to bring up younger players to bolster a blue line that has been disappointing at times during the season.
And finally, Kyle Davidson can sleep without issues tonight knowing he got a solid goalie in return for a veteran defenseman.
