Nick Foligno's crushing hit on Zayne Parekh results in long-term injury
After Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno hit Calgary Flames defenseman Zayne Parekh, he was placed on Injured Reserve.
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Calgary Flames 4-0 on Friday, but there was another incident during the game that caught attention and has resulted in an injury issue for the Flames.
Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno leveled defenseman Zayne Parekh with a crushing but clean hit, resulting in Parekh's injury and subsequently being placed on Injured Reserve.
The Flames have since recalled
Daniil Miromanov from the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL.
It's (an opportunity) to re-set and reflect on the start of the season. The NHL is not an easy league to come into and he has a good opportunity now to get some good work in off the ice and watch a lot of hockey and learn from that. Once he comes back, I told him 'Just get ready, do the work, come back and be really excited and just come back and play your game'.
Parekh was the Flames' ninth overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Nick Foligno Is In The Final Year Of His Contract
Foligno is playing in his third season with the Blackhawks, and is in his second season since being named captain.
He's in the final year of his current contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $4.5 million.
He took a
leave of absence earlier in the season to be with his daughter, who underwent heart surgery.
