Former Chicago Blackhawks forward's making the organization regret their decision to get rid of him
The Chicago Blackhawks have to lament trading forward Brandon Hagel to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Hagel found a home after
the trade in the team's top-six quickly and has been a mainstay since. Last season, he scored 90 points (35-55) with the Bolts.
Though he had a slow start to the season with 1 assist in seven games, he's heating up at the right time for the Atlantic Division juggernaut.
His latest victims were the Vegas Golden Knights on November 6th, where he'd score two goals against the former Stanley Cup champions.
Hagel showed promise of being a top-six forward in Chicago, where he played 108 games wearing the uniform, and scored 61 points (30-31) and 102 hits.
Brandon Hagel's start with the Chicago Blackhawks
Hagel was originally drafted 159th overall in the 6th round of the 2016 NHL Draft. By June 1st, 2018, he had not been signed by the Buffalo Sabres, who selected the forward originally.
The Blackhawks took advantage of the Sabres' miscalculation and signed Hagel to an entry-level contract after playing 30 games with the Red Deer Rebels in the WHL during the 2018-19 season.
Now Hagel is a top-six forward under the tutelage of Jon Cooper, a two-time Stanley Cup-winning coach.
Kyle Davidson should be lamenting this decision
to trade this 90-point forward.
