NHL insider delivers discouraging news to Connor Bedard and Chicago Blackhawks fans for upcoming season

NHL Insider Lyle Fitzsimmons of the Bleacher Report hasn't painted a pretty picture for the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard, as he expects the worst, again.
The Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the worst teams in the NHL in consecutive seasons.
The team would play poorly enough to select 3rd and 2nd in 2024 & 2025, leading to the selection of Anton Frondell and Artyom Levshunov.
For the Blackhawks, they're set for the future with all of the talent waiting in the prospect pool. But for now? It's a different story.
«There's ample reason to like Connor Bedard. And we also like Anton Frondell, who'd been ranked by Central Scouting before the draft as the No. 1 international skater and was available for the Blackhawks at No. 3 overall.»
Meager Additions and a Meager Finish in 2025?
The Blackhawks' postseason would see meager additions such as Andre Burakovsky and Dominic Toninato, along with Stanislav Berezhnoy.
The team would fail to acquire pieces that could push the team forward, as it appears the team is depending less and less on placeholders. Which could be bad news for the team's ability to finish higher in the Central Division, according to Lyle Fitzsimmons.
Most of the players they've acquired remain in the juniors, overseas, or in the minor leagues as the rebuild marches on.
As for the rest of the roster? «Not so much. Chicago's attempt to add talent around Bedard in 2024-25 fell flat, and the pipeline, while hardly empty, probably won't produce enough in the way of results to better the 61 points they compiled.»
For the Blackhawks fandom, this could be startling depending on how you view the team. The team is building for the future and not right away, as we should expect the 2025-26 Blackhawks to finish poorly, leading to another lottery pick (possibly).
Rebuilds don't last forever, maybe, unless you're the GM of the Detroit Red Wings.
