Mitch Marner reportedly heading to Western Conference team in the off-season

The Chicago Blackhawks could benefit from the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner fallout from the recent trade deadline.

There were reports that GM Brad Treliving asked Mitch Marner to waive his no-trade clause in order to be traded to the Carolina Hurricanes for Mikko Rantanen.

He would instead choose to stay in his hometown, and from there the relationship between himself and the Leafs could be broken.

As NHL Insider John Buccigross feels that Mitch Marner will sign elsewhere during the offseason, and that could be in Chicago with Connor Bedard.

Marner's next contract could be upwards of $13 million AAV if he gets what he wants and could be priced out of Toronto, considering the team has players like William Nylander, Auston Matthews, and John Tavares.

At the moment the team has $195K in cap space, even after the deadline.

The Blackhawks have upwards of $24 million in cap space, and in July could shed more as they make more trades freeing up enough room to sign someone like Marner in free agency.

He'd slot in on the team's 1st-line and would become part of a dynamic duo with generational talent Connor Bedard.

The offense would be as explosive as we've hoped with recent additions of Tyler Bertuzzi, and Teuvo Teravainen.

Now the question is, will GM Kyle Davidson be bold enough to make this move in July?
