Interesting scene for Blackhawks' goaltender Spencer Knight not shown on TV
GM Kyle Davidson found the Chicago Blackhawks goalie of the future in Spencer Knight, with surprise to no one, he has his quirks.
In a scene that happened off of cameras before the start of tonight's match against the Utah Hockey Club, we got to see a ritual.
But we got a glimpse into Knight's head, who is unique as any hockey player.
Instead of skating in a unique pattern, or anything too funny, he skates into the crease with three-pucks ready.
He uses his stick to handle them, in a way to warm up his hands and prepare for the oncoming storm of shots from his teammates.
Knight knows a thing or two about winning, as he was part of the Panthers who would go on to win a Stanley Cup last season.
He may have been out of the lineup due to his entry into the NHL/NHLPA Player's Assistance program, but he's never shown a lack of resolve here in Chicago.
His first game with the
Blackhawks ended with him making 41 saves of 42 shots, with a .976 save percentage.
Everyone has their own rituals which they do on a daily basis, whether it be in your own job, or just in practice with your recreational sports team.
Without them, you wouldn't have a framework for success to build off of, and Knight is no different than the rest of us.
It may be funny, or odd but he is now the future of the
Blackhawks in the net, and his quirks should be celebrated.
As much as we should celebrate our own.
Knight has a career record of 81 games played in the NHL, 45-25-7, 3 Assists, 2.74 GAA, and a .907 save percentage.
