The Chicago Blackhawks' former 1st-round pick, Lukas Reichel, will be joining the lineup tonight against the Montreal Canadiens.
The Chicago Blackhawks have suffered an injury in the lineup, as
Jason Dickinson's status is listed as "day-to-day."
Dickinson has suffered an
upper-body injury and could miss a week of action, according to Jeff Blashill.
It was reported by WGN Radio's Charlie Roumeliotis today on "X":
The team will have Lukas Reichel make his season debut in support of Dickinson's absence tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. Reiche will be joining forwards
Sam Lafferty and
Nick Foligno on the fourth line.
A spot not unfamiliar with the German center, where he played a majority of the year last season, when he wasn't a scratch.
Lukas Reichel: From Trade Chip To A Fourth Liner
It's no secret that the Blackhawks have been shopping Lukas Reichel in order to make a trade happen. But there have been no takers that we know of, and there have been
reports of the Edmonton Oilers sniffing around.
But with their recent signing of center
Jack Roslovic, it appears that the team may be handcuffed to Reichel for another year.
Apparently, a
mid-round pick pick is too much, but $1.5 million AAV isn't?
Last season, the German forward played 70 games and played primarily on the same line as his mentor, Pat Maroon.
He'd gain confidence and score 22 points (8-14), thanks to Maroon's tutelage. With Maroon gone, he'll have to rely on his wisdom from the past to inform his future.
Could this be an advertisement for teams who could utilize a reclamation project like Reichel? Or getting the most out of a first-round pick, who's headed into bust territory.
