Hockey world mourns the tragic loss of 21-year old player

The hockey community is mourning the tragic loss of a 21-year old player, Skyler Smith, who unexpectedly passed away on April 5th.
A devastating piece of news has come out of a small town in Halifax, Nova Scotia, following a statement released by the Chebucto Minor Hockey Association.
On behalf of Chebucto Minor Hockey Association, we would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Chebucto Almuni, Skyler Smith.
Our thoughts are with all of you as you navigate through this unimaginable tragedy.
Skyler played hockey for the Chebucto Atlantics as he shared his deep passion for the sport with his father, Lee, and brother, Colby.
When the young player wasn't on the ice, he could be found cheering on his role models, siblings Colby, Landen and Stettson during their hockey games and sporting events.
According to his
obituary, Skyler was a ray of sunshine which held an infectious laugh. He embraced life and all it had to offer, constantly chasing his next adventure with his confident, hardworking, and dependable attitude.
Many of his friends shared how genuine, honest and outgoing Skyler was, he made life worth living. He was kind, patient and caring. He was a true friend.

The Smith family finds peace in knowing that Skyler has left the world doing what he loved to do.
