A major development in the Chicago Blackhawks firing general manager Kyle Davidson
Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has not put pen to paper on the organization's rebuild being done, and fans are begining to lose hope with a lack of moves in this years NHL free agency.
The rebuild has been for longer than three years, and despite the young GM stating it's over, a recent statement revealed they are nowhere close to it being done.
If anything, it has taken several steps back.
According to Blackhawks reporter Scott Powers of The Athletic, three more years is a realistic timeline for the team to be competitive again.
The team's attendance has dipped significantly from the Stanley Cup era in Chicago, but somehow it's still in the top of the league.
Meaning Danny Wirtz' finances are doing just fine.
"Metrics that would sort of indicate brand health are still in a really good place.»
Wirtz stated in a message in March, confirming the organization is still doing financially well.
With funds doing just fine, the Blackhawks owner, who took over after the late Rocky Wirtz, sees no reason to speed up Kyle Davidson's current rebuild. He has stated many times he is backing his general managers plan, confirming his job is not at risk.
«I do think the bigger picture is starting to resonate with fans that I think gives us a lot of hope and optimism, regardless of what's happening in front of us and specifically with the standings,»
Cleary, Wirtz has not taken a look at the current backlash being sent towards the organization after a flop of a free agency.

Davidson has addressed the media after receiving significant heat for his decisions in free agency on July 1st.
«Well, you're always looking for that type of player,» Davidson said. «You're always looking for good players in the marketplace - they just come up very seldomly. And when you do, you act aggressively. And I feel we've reacted accordingly. Again, doesn't always work out, and so you move on."
While it's now confirmed by Danny Wirtz that Kyle Davidson's job as GM is safer than ever, Blackhawks fans can only continue to trust his rebuilding plan moving forward.
