The Edmonton Oilers organization lands a 32-year-old Chicago Blackhawks veteran goaltender in an intriguing trade pitch released in a new report.

With the offseason slowly winding down and questions still looming around the Oilers' goaltending depth, an interesting trade proposal has emerged online.
As reported by Heavy.com, Edmonton could look to acquire Laurent Brossoit from the Blackhawks:
Proposed Trade:
Oilers receive: Laurent Brossoit ($1.65M retained), 2026 seventh-round pick
Blackhawks receive: Connor Ungar, 2028 third-round pick

Brossoit, entering the final year of his two-year deal, missed all of last season due to injury. However, the season prior, he posted a 15-5-2 record with a 2.00 GAA and .927 SV% with the Winnipeg Jets.

Oilers To Target Hawks Goalie Laurent Brossoit?

The Oilers' goaltenders are why the team hasn't been able to win a Stanley Cup. Both Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard aren't in the same category as Sergei Bobrovsky or other elite talents.
General manager Stan Bowman addressed Edmonton's current stance at the position in an interview:
"Well, the evaluation isn't something you do just once or twice and then it's over with. When I say that, it's not just looking at the goaltending we have, but also what's out there and options Part of the evaluation is the guys that we have, and if it makes the most sense to keep this group, that's certainly a possibility. So I don't know. We're not at the point where we're saying we're definitely bringing in new goalies."

While the Oilers aren't looking to add a goalie at all costs, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic made a strong case for a Brossoit trade in a recent paper:
"Seriously, though, put it this way: If Brossoit - a very good goalie, historically - is physically able to play this season, it should be for the Edmonton Oilers, not the Chicago Blackhawks. Lord Stanley knows they need him."

Brossoit has been rendered expendable in Chicago with Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom. For Edmonton, pairing Brossoit with Stuart Skinner could offer a more reliable tandem than running it back with Calvin Pickard.
It appears evident that the Oilers will need to change their goalie unit if they want to win a Cup. Stay tuned.
In other news, the Blue Jackets appear interested in Carter Hart:
