The San Jose Sharks, who have the 2nd pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, could dramatically change the plans of the Chicago Blackhawks, who will pick 3rd.
Once again, the Chicago Blackhawks have landed a top-3 pick in the NHL Entry Draft.
While the Blackhawks are reportedly hoping to pick Swedish center Anton Frondell with the 3rd overall pick, another team is said to be just as interested and could end up with him instead.
Per a report from the Hockey News, the San Jose Sharks, who have the 2nd overall pick,
could choose Fronded.
While it could be a setback for the Blackhawks to not get their man, there would still be plenty of options for them to choose from, including young forward Michael Misa.
The Blackhawks could deal the 3rd overall pick
This is a major development though, as the Blackhawks' guy (Frondell) is off the board, the organization could have a deal in place to trade the third overall pick.
However, there are new conflicting reports that the San Jose Sharks are incredibly interested in Frondell as the second overall pick. If the Islanders don't shock the world and avoid taking Schaefer, and the Sharks go with Frondell, that would leave Misa for the Hawks to select third.
If that were to be the case, Chicago would be getting their guy. Misa is a high-end offensive talent who has the ceiling of an NHL star.
Like the Blackhawks recently did, the Sharks enjoyed winning the NHL Draft Lottery last year and used the 1st overall pick on
Macklin Celebrini. As both teams once again struggled this year, they both landed top-3 selections yet again.
