Chicago Blackhawks complete move with 25-year old forward and it's over for him
The Chicago Blackhawks recently completed a move with forward Philipp Kurashev, placing him on injured reserve due to a hand injury, meaning his time with the team is over for now-until he's healthy again.
In the meantime, they've called up defenseman
Louis Crevier from their AHL team, the Rockford IceHogs, according to
NHL.com.
Kurashev's injury dates back to February 27th, and it caps off a rough season for him.
In 42 games, he's managed to score just six goals and four assists-a steep fall from last year, when the center looked like a key member of the team, posting career highs of 18 goals and 36 assists in 75 games, although that was when he was playing alongside
linemate Connor Bedard.
Philipp Kurashev's struggles with Blackhawks not due to his own play?
A big part of his drop-off comes from less powerplay time.
Last season, he logged 221 minutes and notched 19 powerplay points. This year, he's down to just 20 minutes and has only one point with the man advantage.
The Blackhawks have a tough call to make this summer with the 25-year-old.
He's got talent but hasn't been consistent, and this injury makes it nearly impossible to trade him before the deadline.
The 23-year-old defenseman has three goals, one assist, 47 hits, and 34 blocked shots.
He's averaging nearly 18 minutes per game, but the team hasn't set him up for success.
They start him in the defensive zone for 68.9% of his shifts, which is a challenge for a young player. Still, he's earned himself another chance to show what he can do in Chicago.
