The Chicago Blackhawks have chosen to let loose Colton Dach from the grip of the NHL, and set him free to join his teammates in Rockford in the hunt for a Calder Cup.
While the
Chicago Blackhawks may have finished the season with a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators last week, many Hawks players haven't finished playing for the season.
With a record of 25-46-11, Colton Dach was unable to contribute to the Blackhawks Since he's been sidelined by an injury this season.
Dach was originally brought up on January 3rd to bolster the lineup, which angered some veterans in the lineup. But he'd remain a key contributor down the second-half stretch of the season, until he was injured.
He'd miss 13 games of the season, and upon a clear bill of health, has been released to the minors to join Coach Mark Eaton's attempt to win a Calder Cup.
WGN Radio's Charlie Roumeliotis announced today that the Blackhawks have sent
Dach back down to the minors to play competitive hockey in the AHL.
Dach will join the IceHogs after playing some great hockey in the NHL, scoring 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 25 short games with the Blackhawks.
He'll bring his experience down to the minors and serve as a leader, and an extra thumb on the balance as the IceHogs take on the Chicago Wolves in a Central Division showdown.
The IceHogs have already defeated the Wolves once, 2-1.
Dach will re-join the IceHogs after playing 33 games for the AHL squad this season, scoring a total of 26 points (12 goals, 24 assists).
Could he help the IceHogs win a Cup and make the Blackhawks line up out of training camp?
