Although the Chicago Blackhawks may have had an unfortunate start to the 2024/25 NHL season, the team's future undoubtedly got a whole lot brighter following this past March's Trade Deadline, and a top goaltending prospect reveals his true feelings towards his newly acquired teammate.

This past NHL Trade Deadline, the Chicago Blackhawks inevitably struck gold when they traded their veteran blue liner, Seth Jones, for a first-round pick and a top net-minder, Spencer Knight, who quickly made it apparent he will most likely be the future starter for the franchise.
The Blackhawks have, needless to say, struggled heavily for many years in finding a solid goaltender, and the team knew this would need to change in order for the organization to flourish within their current re-build, and luckily for Chicago, it seems like Kyle Davidson may have found the team's missing piece.
Although Spencer Knight's time within Chicago was limited, it was nothing less than immaculate to watch, and there is no doubt that he will become the front runner in the organization to control the net for the long-haul.
Despite this trade being necessary for Chicago in the moment, the organization still currently holds other top goaltending prospects within their pipeline, and one specific prospect broke his silence regarding Spencer Knight taking over his future position.
For the longest time the Rockford Ice Hogs' net-minder, Drew Commesso, was set to become the primary goaltender for the Blackhawks in the future, however it appears as though those plans have now changed due to Knights welcome.

Rockford Ice Hogs' Drew Commesso reveals his mindset following the Chicago Blackhawks acquiring Spencer Knights

The young net-minder seemingly remains focused on his progress and reveals his present mindset regardless of Chicago's decisions.
«Honestly, I don't adjust my mentality at all,» Commesso said. «It was something that was completely out of my control and I think I found out about it 15 minutes before my first game back from injury in the locker room. For me, I've just had a great mindset of just being present and controlling what I can.»

He then continued to reveal that himself and Knight have a strong relationship based on their roots together:
«Spence and I have a phenomenal relationship,» Commesso said. «He's been such a great guy to me ever since I met him at the U.S. program when we were there together and I only have unbelievable things to say about him. I think we are really similar in a lot of ways and we view the game very similarly.»

Do you think Spencer Knight and Drew Commesso will be the future of the Chicago Blackhawks' net?
