Chicago Blackhawks forward faces backlash for joining St. Louis Blues' playoff cheer
Pat Maroon is under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks until July 1st, earning, and was caught on live TV hyping up the rival St. Louis Blues, he's not intentionally trying to get a rise out of Blackhawks fans, is he?
The
Chicago Blackhawks finished the season 25-46-11, and 8th in the Central Division. Their long-time rivals, the St. Louis Blues thanks to Head Coach Jim Montgomery have turned their misfortunes around this season and found themselves competing against one of the best teams in the NHL this year, the Winnipeg Jets.
However, one hometown boy was shown before the start of Game 4 hyping up the Blues, and celebrating their playoff success with a cold one.
A team he was competing against not too long ago.
Make no mistake, partying looks to be Maroon's natural habitat, and we've seen his hijinks with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Keep in mind, he wasn't wearing a Chicago Blackhawks uniform too long ago. Now, we find him back in St. Louis, cheering on Jim Montgomery,
Jordan Kyrou, and
Jordan Binnington as they compete in Game 4.
While we understand the intent here, the look is kind of well unprofessional for someone whose won three-Stanley Cups.
The Jets currently lead the series 2-1, but the Blues are dominating 5-1 as this article is being written. There's 11:30 left in the third period.
The former Blackhawks player is retiring from the NHL and hasn't given us a clue of where he plans to take his career next.
Whether it be coaching or a role in a front office somewhere.
Or maybe he'll just relax at home and enjoy his time with his family.
Either way, the Blue Note is a bit much for all of us who were congratulating him on an excellent career that ended not so long ago.
Maroon has played 848 NHL games during his career and scored 323 points (126 goals, 197 assists). He won two Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and his first came with the St. Louis Blues in 2019.
He's still under contract with the Blackhawks until July 1st, paying him $1.3 million AAV.
