The Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Greene was unjustly punished by Gary Bettman and the NHL in his debut against the Montreal Canadiens.
Blackhawks forward Ryan Greene made his debut on Tuesday, April 15th, against the Montreal Canadiens in the Bell Centre.
He joined other NHL rookies in the customary lap they take before the start of the game, and did without a helmet. A big no-no for Gary Bettman and the league, who consider that even a ceremonial lap an infraction.
Greene took his lap in the Bell Centre with no bucket and could suffer the consequences.

Since he's not "grandfathered" into the exemption, things could get a little rough for Greene, who has only seen one game of NHL action and hasn't even collected his first NHL paycheck yet.
The fine for Greene will be $2500, which is half of what the CBA maximum is for dangerous hits, and plays that could cause major injuries.
Green debuted against the Canadiens and would play 20 shifts, with 12:55 TOI against Ivan Demidov. He'd leave the night with 1 shot missed, 3 blocked shots, 3 giveaways, and 3 out of 6 face-off wins.
Not a terrible start to a professional hockey career in one of the toughest barns in the league.
But being in the negative $2500 is rough.
