The Chicago Blackhawks and general manager Kyle Davidson drafted Connor bedard at first overall in the 2023 NHL entry draft which carries a lot of pressure, the worst case scenario for the 19-year old has been revealed and it's a familiar occurence.

Connor Bedard's ceiling in the NHL is expected to be higher than ever, but could he pan out to be every Edmonton Oilers' fans worst nightmare?
That would be former first overall pick Nail Yakupov, who was deemed generational talent but would ultimately end up playing in outside of North America due to his lack of production and adjustment to the NHL.
It would be the worst-case scenario for Bedard to pan out similarly to Yakupov, but it is certainly not appearing so.
As trade rumors surround the Chicago Blackhawks forward due to tough times in the organization, his departure from the team could be expected if management does not surround him with proper and suitable talent, much like Yakupov who took his talents from Edmonton to the St. Louis Blues.
The expectation for Bedard to become a Connor McDavid or Nathan MacKinnon game-breaking type of player is quite unrealistic, but expectations should still be held.
«He's a 19-year-old kid and he's close to a point a game,» MacKinnon said. «I'd have killed for that when I was 19. I had like 30 points. He's doing great.»

We have yet to witness Bedard or Macklin Celebrini, another former first overall pick, turn their organizations around like we've seen other highly touted prospects do in the past.
But is that on the surrounding pieces in Chicago, or on Bedard's skillset?
We're only in year two of Connor Bedard's career, and it did take Nathan MacKinnon a whopping four years until he tallied his first 99-point season.
