The Chicago Blackhawks have lost the trade with the Carolina Hurricanes, as it seems Taylor Hall has found the fountain of youth and returned to form under Rod Brind'Amour.

Taylor Hall was traded to Carolina on January 24th, 2025, in a complex deal that sent Mikko Rantanen and Hall to the Hurricanes.
The Chicago Blackhawks received their 2025 3rd-round pick back from the Canes, in return for retaining half of Mikko Rantanen's contract.
Now with Rantanen a Dallas Star, what has happened with Taylor Hall in the Hurricanes system? Under Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour, it appears he's found his goal-scoring abilities once more.
In 22 games with the Carolina Hurricanes, he's scored 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) on the second line with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jack Roslovic.
While he's already received playing time on the Hurricanes' 1st power-play unit, with Seth Jarvis, Sebastian Aho, Jackson Blake, and Shayne Gostisbehere.
He'd have to adjust to the system, of course. After he arrived in Carolina, he only scored 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in his first twelve games with the team. But in his last ten, he has upped production considerably, scoring 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in that period.
Hall has been hot the majority of his time in Carolina, as he's scored on the power-play in his last three games, has tallied a hat-trick, and has scored a goal consecutively in those games as well.
A performance you'd expect out of a former first-round pick.
Hall couldn't find that success with Anders Sorensen or Luke Richardson, which is unfortunate, as he's thriving under Rod Brind'Amour.
As he's now played his 900th NHL game with his seventh team, he's scored 734 points (283 goals, 451 assists) in 15 seasons.
With how his short-tenure has gone in Carolina so far, it's easy to assume he'll be there awhile.
While GM Kyle Davidson has taken another "L" for this trade. Third-round pick for a former 1st-round pick who is still putting up excellent stats?
Pretty ridiculous I'd say.
