The Blackhawks are a team to watch if the Maple Leafs place David Kampf, who has previously played for Chicago, on waivers before the year begins.
Forward David Kampf could soon be placed on waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and there are a handful of teams that could decide to snatch him up.
Per analyst Stephen Nixon of Editor in Leaf, the Chicago Blackhawks are a team to watch if Kampf is placed on waivers by the Leafs.
"Who better for Connor Bedard to learn from than David Kampf? Joking aside, Kampf started his career with the Blackhawks so it wouldn't be crazy if that's the team that brings him back.
The Blackhawks have a decent mixture of young players and veterans so adding Kampf to their lineup could be a good way to solidify their fourth-line and be a small improvement on Sam Lafferty, who's currently in that slot."
Kampf still has 2 years with an AAV (average annual value) of $2.4 million left on his deal. If he were to be claimed by Chicago, it would be his 2nd go-around with the team, as he previously played for them from 2017 through 2021.
David Kampf has already played for the Blackhawks
Kampf was never drafted into the NHL but signed an entry-level contract with the Blackhawks; he also played for the AHL's Rockford IceHogs during his time with the organization.
