Chicago Blackhawks announce discipline after former first round skips mandatory team meeting
The Chicago Blackhawks have announced discipline for 22-year old former 17th overall draft pick Lukas Reichel after he failed to attend a mandatory team meeting on Thursday, according to The Athletic's Mark Lazerus.
Forward Lukas Reichel has been buried on the Blackhawks' fourth line all NHL season due to poor play, and not completing the bare-minimum requirement of attending a mandatory team meeting will surely not help his hopes for a promotion in the lineup.
The German-born forward currently has 21 points in 66 out of the Blackhawks' 75 games this year, Reichel was scratched for the other nine.
Blackhawks reveal why Lukas Reichel has been scratched
Interim head coach Anders Sorensen, confirmed Reichel's removal from the teams lineup ahead of their face-off against the
Washington Capitals on Friday, stating that he's 'Gotta be a pro'.
Tab Bamford, another reporter who covers the Blackhawks, made a great point and it appears this could put the nail in the coffin for Reichel's time in Chicago.
Bamford writes 'I hope Reichel is only renting in Chicago', hinting at his departure is only more expected now after this act today.
I hope Lukas Reichel is only renting in Chicago at this point.
Can't stay out of the doghouse, gets run on a line w/ guys who might complement him FINALLY and... misses a team meeting.
w 2 weeks left in the season
Time w the #Blackhawks likely short at this point
