The 21-year-old forward Frank Nazar agreed on the terms of a long-term contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks, weeks ahead of the training camp.
Although many fans hoped to see the Chicago Blackhawks announce Connor Bedard's signature, it's another key player who inked a deal.
Indeed, Frank Nazar signed a seven-year, $6.6 million AAV contract.
The general manager of the team, Kyle Davidson, highlighted Nazar's growth and his place in the team's long-term plans in the following comments:
"Frank elevated his game last season and has proven himself to be one of the top young talents in the league. He drives play using his elite speed and playmaking abilities, creating problems for opponents and opportunities for teammates every night. Frank is an integral piece of our team, and we're thrilled to have him with us for the next eight seasons."
Nazar will enter the final year of his entry-level contract this season. He scored 26 points in 53 games last season with the Hawks, but like Connor Bedard, is expected to take another big step in his game entering training camp.
