Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar receives surprising invite to play for new team
The Chicago Blackhawks have proven they're skillful at drafting future NHLers. Frank Nazar has joined the ranks of the Blackhawks NHL squad after a short stint in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs.
However, he'll be joining a new team in 2026.
He has received an invitation to join Team USA during the 2026 IIHF World Championships.
The Blackhawks will also have
Alex Vlasic attending the Championships in tow, wearing Team USA colors as well.
Nazar has shown what he's capable of, with only 53 games played in the NHL, and scored 26 points (12-14).
He's capable of driving play and creating offense with his high hockey IQ and wheels that cut through defenders and create pressure in the offensive zone.
Frank Nazar's dedication to the game of hockey has resulted in him representing Team USA in 2026 at the IIHF World Championships.
In 2024, Nazar played in the U20 World Junior Championships, scoring 8 points (8 A) in seven games with Team USA.
This year, he'll get a chance to compete against other NHLers and show his stuff on the international stage once more.
Nazar is in year three of his $950K AAV deal, totaling $2.85 million in value.
He can put on a show in 2026 and could be the Blackhawks player who experiences a breakout in the IIHF.
Nazar played 21 games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, scoring 24 points (11-13)
