Chicago Blackhawks already struggling to sell tickets for 2025-26 season
The Chicago Blackhawks have had a massive culture change in the arena starting after COVID, and it's not very popular among fans. Plus, add in the fact that CHSN is pretty much inaccessible within the Chicago region, the interest for the team has gone down the toilet.
And it shows, because apparently the Blackhawks ticket office is calling people who had season tickets last season and offering them partial packages for the half season.
They put the team out of sight of the fans while they're the second worst team in the league. What did they think was going to happen?
Ever since taking over the team, Danny Wirtz really hasn't done the best job. With the transition from NBC Sports Chicago (which was perfectly fine and preferred) to CHSN, and letting Jamie Faulkner seemingly do whatever she wants, it's been a disaster. The only good thing is not changing the name and logo.
Now, to Jamie Faulkner. Faulker was hired in 2020 as President of business operations. Under Rocky Wirtz, not much changed, but after his death, she has changed everything for the worse.
She's kicked out all the old and is trying to «market to the younger generation,» and it isn't working, as it's driving out a lot of fans. Organist Frank Pellico was kicked out mid-season this year and, unfortunately, Jim Cornelison is probably next. Instead, for game entertainment, they bring in DJ Oreo, who no one wants to see.
How can she look at all the criticism and still keep on going with all this? Everything mentioned in here along with a bad on-ice product is a bad mix.
Faulkner needs to go and Danny needs to pull it together. We're in the next generation of Blackhawks hockey, sure. But don't drive all the old out so quickly; let them leave on their own terms.
